Southern green stink bugs are important insect pests that affect soybean crops in many parts of the world. They feed on more than 300 plant species and are especially known for causing damage in soybean fields.
Both young nymphs and adults use piercing-sucking mouthparts to feed on leaves, stems, flowers, pods, and seeds. While feeding, they inject digestive enzymes into plant tissue. This feeding activity can damage plants and create openings for disease-causing organisms.
