In May, President Trump directed officials within his administration to explore rescinding trade deals that require the U.S. to import cattle.

The U.S. only imports cattle from Mexico and Canada. American officials negotiated these terms as part of the USMCA.

Members of the beef industry suggested the U.S. change its beef trade relationship with Brazil before targeting Canada and Mexico.
