New partnership expands broadband access while supporting 4-H programs across rural America
Tractor Supply Company, Starlink and 4-H have launched a new initiative aimed at improving internet access in rural communities across the United States while creating more opportunities for young people. The program combines technology, education, and community support to help rural families stay connected and prepare youth for future success.
Under the initiative, customers who purchase and activate eligible Starlink internet kits from Tractor Supply stores or through the retailer's online platform can help generate funding for local 4-H programs. The program runs through November 15 and supports educational opportunities for young people living in rural areas.
Reliable internet access remains a challenge for many families outside major cities. Limited broadband services can affect schoolwork, business operations, healthcare access, and communication. By bringing high speed satellite internet to more households, the partnership aims to reduce these challenges and create new opportunities for rural residents.
"Serving Life Out Here means helping our customers bring reliable internet home and investing in the young people growing up in their communities. Every eligible kit our customers pick up this fall does both. Providing rural communities with reliable broadband isn't just about connectivity-it's about giving the next generation the tools to thrive in their hometowns,” said Hal Lawton, President and CEO of Tractor Supply.
The initiative connects three organizations with a shared goal. Tractor Supply contributes to its extensive network of rural retail stores; Starlink provides satellite internet technology, and 4-H delivers youth development programs across communities nationwide. Together, organizations are working to improve digital access and educational opportunities.
As part of the program, funding generated through eligible Starlink activations will support local 4-H programs. These programs help young people gain important life skills through leadership activities, STEM education, career development, and hands on learning experiences. The investment is designed to prepare youth for future educational and professional opportunities.
Tractor Supply has also strengthened its commitment to rural youth through significant financial support. The company previously contributed $500,000 to help launch the initiative and has raised more than $27 million for 4-H youth programs since 2010 through its Paper Clover fundraising campaign.
"Connecting the unconnected has always been at the core of Starlink's mission. We're excited to work with Tractor Supply and 4-H to help bring reliable, high-speed internet to rural communities across America. By expanding access, we can support 4-H's efforts to deliver STEM education and create new opportunities for youth," said David Goldman, Vice President of Satellite Policy at SpaceX.
In addition to financial contributions, Starlink provides internet equipment and service for selected 4-H clubs serving rural youth. Access to reliable broadband can help students participate in online learning, educational programs, research projects, and workforce development activities that may not otherwise be available in remote areas.
The partnership highlights the growing importance of internet connectivity in modern rural life. Farmers, ranchers, small business owners, and rural families increasingly depend on reliable internet access for daily activities. High speed connectivity supports precision agriculture, online training, remote work, telehealth services, and communication with customers and suppliers.
Leaders from the participating organizations say the initiative focuses on creating lasting opportunities for rural communities. Improving internet access is more than technology. It helps connect people to education, jobs, business opportunities and important services that can improve quality of life.
"As 4-H works to reach 10 million young people by 2030, expanding digital access is critical in rural communities. We are deeply grateful for Tractor Supply's continued commitment and proud to welcome Starlink as a supporter in preparing the next generation to be Beyond Ready," said Jill Bramble, President and CEO of National 4-H Council.
The program also supports 4-H's Beyond Ready initiative, which aims to reach millions of young people with programs that help them develop skills for future careers and leadership roles. Through STEM education, workforce readiness programs and community engagement activities, 4-H continues to prepare youth for success in a rapidly changing world.
According to data highlighted by the organizations, millions of young people still lack reliable broadband internet access at home. This digital gap can create barriers to learning and personal development. Expanding connectivity is therefore seen as an important step toward creating equal opportunities for youth regardless of where they live.
Tractor Supply remains one of the largest rural lifestyle retailers in the United States, serving farmers, ranchers, homeowners, gardeners and pet owners. The company's nationwide presence makes it well positioned to help bring internet solutions to rural communities while supporting important local programs.
As demand for reliable broadband continues to grow, initiatives like this demonstrate how businesses, technology providers and community organizations can work together to address rural challenges. By expanding internet access and supporting youth development, the partnership seeks to strengthen communities and create opportunities that benefit future generations.
The campaign offers a practical way for customers to contribute to a larger cause. Every eligible Starlink activation helps support educational programs while providing families with improved connectivity. The result is a program that delivers benefits both today and for the future of rural America.
