President urges Congress to quickly approve nationwide E15 fuel access

The Renewable Fuels Association welcomed renewed support from President Trump after he again confirmed his commitment to year-round access to E15 fuel across the United States. Speaking at a public event in Iowa, the President emphasized the importance of approving legislation that allows E15 to be sold throughout the entire year.

E15 is a fuel blend that contains 15 percent ethanol and 85 percent gasoline. It is widely viewed as an important market opportunity for farmers because it increases demand for corn-based ethanol. At the same time, it offers consumers a more affordable and cleaner fuel option at the pump.

“I promised to support E15 all year-round,” said President Trump. “I am trusting Speaker Johnson and Leader Thune to find a deal that works—we’ve got it—for farmers, consumers, and refiners…to get E15 approved. And they are working on it and they are very close to getting it done. And [they’ll] be sending me a bill very shortly supporting year-round E15, to my desk very quickly, and I will sign it without delay.”

The Renewable Fuels Association noted that expanding E15 access is one of the fastest ways to strengthen the farm economy. Ethanol production supports corn growers, rural jobs, and local businesses while also helping reduce fuel costs for drivers. Industry leaders believe year-round E15 approval would remove regulatory barriers that have limited its availability in many states.

RFA leadership also praised lawmakers from Iowa for their continued efforts to advance E15 legislation. These representatives have worked to reduce unnecessary regulations and improve market access for ethanol producers and farmers nationwide.

Supporters of E15 argue that the fuel provides multiple benefits. It helps farmers find new markets, supports domestic energy production, and offers a lower-cost fuel choice for consumers. Ethanol also plays a role in reducing vehicle emissions when compared to traditional gasoline.

With growing interest in renewable energy and rural economic stability, year-round E15 remains a key policy goal for the agriculture and biofuels sectors. Industry groups are hopeful that Congressional action will soon deliver long-term certainty for farmers, ethanol producers, and fuel retailers across the country.
