Experienced leader to drive innovation and growth in Canada's food sector

Protein Industries Canada has appointed Tyler Groeneveld as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective October 27. Groeneveld previously served as Chair of the organization’s Board of Directors, providing valuable insight and experience in Canada’s agriculture and food sector.

The CEO selection process was led by a committee chaired by Annette Revet, Vice-Chair of the Board. An independent executive search firm supported the process to ensure transparency and objectivity. Revet emphasized the importance of strong and stable leadership to continue the organization’s momentum and success.

Groeneveld has an extensive career spanning over 31 years in agriculture and food, including senior roles with Corteva and its legacy companies. His most recent position was Commercial Lead for North America, giving him deep industry knowledge and leadership experience.

“I am honoured to take on the role of CEO of Protein Industries Canada,” said Groeneveld. “Having worked closely with the Board and leadership team, I’ve seen firsthand the organization’s impact in driving innovation and collaboration across Canada’s agriculture and food ecosystem. Together with our partners, we will continue to accelerate growth in ingredient manufacturing and food processing to create a $25-billion opportunity for Canada.”

As part of the transition, Annette Revet will act as Chair of the Board of Directors while continuing her role as Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee.

Since its founding in 2019, Protein Industries Canada has been one of the country’s five Global Innovation Clusters. The organization has facilitated more than $750 million in combined government and industry investment to expand domestic processing of plant-based foods, feed, and ingredients. These efforts strengthen Canada’s food supply chain and support sustainable economic growth nationwide.

With Groeneveld at the helm, Protein Industries Canada aims to continue fostering innovation, expanding the plant-based sector, and contributing significantly to the country’s agricultural economy.
