The manufacturer has a presence in North America
An equipment manufacturer recently introduced an ag tractor touted as the world’s most powerful.
Zoomlion, a Chinese ag and construction equipment company, unveiled its 9DX hybrid tractor and its maximum system output of 1,600 horsepower, at the 2026 China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition in late October.
For comparison, modern cars in Formula 1 generate about 1,000 horsepower.
In terms of tractor comparisons, John Deere’s 9RX 830 has a maximum of 913 horsepower, while the Case IH Steiger 785 Quadtrac has a peak engine horsepower of 853.
Zoomlion developed the 9DX’s digital chassis, core components and control systems in house.
“It features an ultra-high-horsepower hybrid continuously variable transmission technology, delivering a peak torque of 7,200 (Newton-meters) and a maximum travel speed of 40 km/h (25 mph),” the company said in a press release.
For context, 7,200 Newton-meters equals about 5,310-foot pounds of force.
In addition, the unit sits on 762mm (30 inch) -wide tracks.
Powering the 9DX is an 800V dual-motor coupling system, meaning two motors work together to drive a single output.
This tractor is built for farmers tending to large operations.
“Its hydraulic system provides a flow rate of 636 L/min, supporting combined operations with ultra-wide seeders, large-scale land preparation equipment and variable-rate fertilizer applicators,” Zoomlion said.
It’s unclear when the 9DX may become available to farmers in North America.
Zoomlion has dealers and offices on the continent to support construction and other heavy equipment needs.
And at this year’s Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show in Woodstock, Ont., Volder Heavy Equipment had a Zoomlion skid steer on display.
