Pseudomonas
Pseudomonas
Pseudomonas is a group of beneficial bacteria that can be used as a biocontrol. These microbes protect crops by producing antimicrobial compounds that stop plant pathogens, competing for nutrients and space, and triggering plant immune responses. Some species, like Pseudomonas fluorescens, also release enzymes that break down fungal cell walls, preventing infections. Farmers use Pseudomonas in various ways, including using coated seeds, amending soil, and spraying on leaves to stop diseases like blight, wilt, and root rot. As well as disease control, these bacteria contribute to healthier crops by improving soil quality.
