2026 Arkansas Agriculture Profile Highlights Mounting Pressure on Farmers

By Sarah Cato

Agriculture remains Arkansas’ largest industry, but the 2026 Arkansas Agriculture Profile shows declining crop cash receipts and paints a picture of an industry in crisis.

The profile, published annually by the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture, provides an overview of Arkansas agriculture in a pocket-sized publication.

“This publication brings together a lot of information in one place, from what we produce and where Arkansas ranks nationally to how much agriculture contributes to our state economy,” said co-author Frank Seo, assistant professor of rural development for the Division of Agriculture.

Seo authored the publication with Luke Pullo, community, professional and economic development program associate with the Division of Agriculture.

Also called ‘Pocket Facts,’ the publication is printed in a small, pocket-sized format. “The idea is to make all of this information easy to carry around, easy to look through and easy to share,” Seo said.

Declining income

When comparing data from 2026 to previous years, Seo said the volatility is striking.
