AgScape Celebrates Canada’s Agriculture Day on February 15th, 2023

Ontario – – AgScape, a charitable organization that brings the innovative world of agriculture to educators and students across Ontario, is pleased to celebrate Canada’s Agriculture Day on February 15th, 2023.

At 10:00 a.m. EST, AgScape will host a free, live Virtual Field Trip with Ardent Mills for grade 4-10 students in Ontario. Students will learn about Ardent Mill’s wheat processing facilities and the entire flour creation process directly from the employees, and ask questions along the way. Additionally, at 2:00 p.m. EST, in partnership with Meat & Poultry Ontario, AgScape will launch a new curriculum-linked resource, Meat & Poultry Processing in Ontario, Teacher’s Guide for Grades 7-12. This free resource gives educators the information they need to fully explore the entire meat and poultry processing supply chain and educate their students about the exciting career opportunities in this industry. The new Teacher’s Guide will be launched through a YouTube and Facebook Live event hosted by Mercedes Unwin, Program & Resource Manager of AgScape, and Daphne Nuys-Hall, Technical Director of Meat & Poultry Ontario.

Created in 2017 by Agriculture More Than Ever, Canada’s Agriculture Day is celebrated every year to recognize and appreciate the vital role played by the agricultural and agri-food industry in Canada. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about the hard work and dedication of all those in the sector who help produce the food that Canadians and others worldwide consume, and contribute to maintaining a strong, resilient economy.

“The agriculture industry in Canada is an integral sector that plays a critical role in producing safe, nutritious food for Canadians and people across the world. This sector is also one of the key drivers of Canada’s local and national economy,” said Mira Lyonblum, Executive Director of AgScape. “As a charity dedicated to delivering agriculture and food education to youth in Ontario, we believe in empowering youth and educators to understand and appreciate the significance of Canada’s agriculture industry and the many exciting career opportunities within it. Our programs inspire youth across Ontario to become the next generation of leaders in the Canadian agriculture sector.”
