Guelph, ON – Bioenterprise Canada Corporation is pleased to announce the successful applicants for round five of the FoodShift program. Eighteen (18) southern Ontario food and beverage processors have been awarded funding to partner with clean technology organizations for process optimization assessments and technology adoption projects, encouraging more sustainable operations and a smaller carbon footprint for the industry.
The Government of Canada, through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), is supporting Bioenterprise with a $2,950,000 investment to deliver the FoodShift program. Recipients will receive up to $50,000 in non-repayable matching funds to identify and address inefficiencies in their food and beverage processing operations that will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

As Bioenterprise Canada expands its national membership program, Canada’s Food & Agri-Tech Engine, matchmaking initiatives like the FoodShift program, offered in key regions, enhance ties between industry and funding. In southern Ontario, the FoodShift program connects clean technology organizations with industrial end-users in food and beverage processing. Ultimate recipients are employing funds to embrace greater automation and integrate technologies that reduce waste and energy while improving process efficiencies throughout the agri-food value chain. FoodShift is intended to act as a catalyst for the transition to a green economy that will help reduce the sector’s carbon footprint.
