Leaders from across Canada’s pork value chain gathered last week for the Canada Pork Annual Conference, bringing producers and industry representatives together to discuss the market, consumer and investment trends shaping the future of the sector.
Members of the Canadian Pork Council (CPC) participated in the conference, which featured perspectives on both domestic and global issues affecting Canadian pork.
Sessions included a look at the U.S. pork landscape with Alex Wibholm, an examination of global pork market trends with Brett Stuart, and discussion of evolving foodservice trends with Chris Elliott.
The conference also addressed the importance of continued investment in Canada’s pork industry, with Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Heath MacDonald participating in discussions around the sector and its future.
Across the sessions, a common focus was the long-term competitiveness of Canadian pork as producers and processors navigate changing global markets, evolving consumer demand and the need for continued investment throughout the value chain.
The Canadian Pork Council highlighted the importance of bringing different parts of the industry together to exchange perspectives and have practical, forward-looking conversations about the opportunities and challenges facing the sector.
The event was hosted by Canada Pork, which works to support the Canadian pork sector and strengthen its position in domestic and international markets.
