Canadian Pork Sector Generates More Than $24 Billion in Annual Economic Activity

Canada’s pork industry contributes more than $24 billion in economic activity annually and supports approximately 100,000 direct and indirect jobs, according to the Canadian Pork Council (CPC), highlighting an economic footprint that extends well beyond the farm gate.

The figures illustrate the interconnected nature of Canada’s pork value chain, linking hog farms with processors, transportation companies, suppliers and communities across the country.

In 2025 alone, Canadian hog farms generated $7.2 billion in farm cash receipts, while Canadian pork exports were valued at $5.82 billion, according to CPC.

Together, the numbers demonstrate the significant role pork production continues to play within Canadian agriculture and the broader economy.
