Degelman Acquires Renn Mill Center

Degelman Industries, Regina, Sask., has acquired Renn Mill Center (RMC), Lacombe, Alta. RMC had been a supplier to Degelman since 2008. RMC's management and staff will remain in place and will continue to serve their dealers and customers, Degelman said. Doug Hilsabeck will remain vice president of RMC and work closely with Blair Flavel, president of Degelman as well as Degelman's executive team. Both companies’ teams will continually collaborate to improve product offerings and customer experience, Degelman said.

Degelman employs 500 staff. In a statement, the company said, “We believe our investment puts Renn Mill Center in a unique position for growth while at the same time preserving their core values: to deliver quality products on time, every time. We are confident this new partnership will make both RMC and Degelman Industries stronger, more diversified companies that will continue to be innovators and leaders in the agricultural field.”

My guest this week is Mr. Paul Bootsma, Policy Coordinator for the Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario (CFFO). We discuss his policy work at the CFFO and how the organization advocates for farmers with both the federal and provincial governments. We also discuss the current issue of waste at some small abbatoirs (slaughter facilities) in Ontario where there seems to be a pattern of excessive condemnation of animal carcasses by provincial inspectors, raising cost for both farmers and abbatoir owners.
