Drought Resources for Livestock Producers

By Lauren Langley

1- NC Extension Disaster Page & Drought Resources Page. Both of these are good options to bookmark and keep a eye on for new information.

2- NCHayfinder.com - this website is the best option to help connect producers to hay. People who have hay to sell and those looking to buy can create profiles and connect on hayfinder. No money or payment can happen through the site. Out of state suppliers can create an account here, which may be important given that our neighboring states are in very similar situations.

3- Livestock Forage Disaster Program. Currently, this is the best option for livestock producers to receive financial assistance for these losses or those to come. Please visit your local Farm Service Agency (FSA) and start the process of applying- taking the time to get enrolled can save time down the road if you become eligible for new programs.
