Farm bill’s end-of-year deadline approaches

Lawmakers are optimistic a new version of the farm bill legislation will be approved before the new year begins despite current roadblocks.

At the time of writing, the ongoing vote for a Speaker of the House of Representatives is holding up the bill. Until there is approval of a new speaker or a temporary speaker, no legislation is able to be approved or passed.

Despite the delays in the House, Illinois Congressman Eric Sorensen said this is less of a rewrite and more of an update, which should help get the bill finalized before the end of the year.
