AED Members Talk Ag Policy at USDA, Capitol Hill

On February 25, a delegation of equipment dealers went to the U.S. Department of Agriculture to meet with Deputy Secretary Stephen Vaden and participated in a series of meetings with members of the United States House of Representatives and Senate about the need to pass legislation permitting the sale of year-round E15.

“Thank you to Deputy Secretary Vaden for taking the time to meet with AED members for a productive discussion about the current state of the agriculture sector and the vital role equipment dealers play in supplying and servicing farmers across the country," said AED’s President & CEO Brian P. McGuire. “We appreciate the equipment dealers that took the time to come to Washington to highlight the challenges they’re facing and the implications of policy proposals.”

Topics also included commodity prices and the ways dealers support equipment repair to eliminate downtime.

Year-round E15 has been a longstanding policy priority for AED, and participants went to Capitol Hill to urge lawmakers to break the stalemate in Congress.

"At a time when commodity prices are down and farmers are in search of domestic markets, lawmakers should immediately come to an agreement on year-round E15,” said McGuire. “It’s critical to farmers, equipment dealers, and rural communities, and the time has come for the House and Sente to send legislation to the president’s desk.”
