High demand for farmland in auctions

Farmlands in Kentucky, South Dakota, and Wisconsin sold for top prices

Farmland auctions across Kentucky, South Dakota, and Wisconsin saw impressive sales, reflecting a strong agricultural real estate market. 

In Kentucky, 1,005.5 acres across Daviess and Hancock Counties sold for $6,891,625, with an average price of $6,854 per acre. The land was divided into 20 tracts, featuring reclaimed mined areas, wooded land, a three-bedroom home, and farm buildings. 

In South Dakota, a 150-acre irrigated farm near Brookings sold for $2.2 million, or $14,667 per acre. Known for its seed research and proximity to ethanol plants and grain markets, the property is strategically located and offers agricultural value with a lease expiring in 2024. 

In Wisconsin, a 78-acre property in Grant County sold for $820,000 through a sealed bid auction. With 54 acres of cropland and 20 acres of timber, it offers both farming and hunting opportunities, along with residential appeal near Dubuque, Iowa. 

These auctions demonstrate the high demand for farmland with diverse applications and prime locations.
