Inside Eagle Creek: Building a 4.4-Acre Pork Production System from the Ground Up

From above, Eagle Creek Colony’s newest swine facility almost looks like a small industrial complex dropped into the Saskatchewan prairie.

The aerial view tells you immediately that this is not an ordinary barn.

Multiple production buildings stretch across the site, connected into a system designed to take pigs through virtually the entire production cycle. Grain storage and feed infrastructure rise alongside the barns. Large banks of ventilation equipment line exterior walls. Roads and service areas connect a facility encompassing approximately 192,650 square feet — about 4.4 acres under roof.

But the most interesting perspective comes from walking inside.

The photographs reveal long central corridors seemingly disappearing into the distance. Room after room branches from those corridors, each built around a particular stage of production. Flooring changes with the environment. Pen configurations change. Ventilation infrastructure changes. Animal size changes.
