Join the ISU Northern Research Farm and the Boone River Watershed WMA along partners for this edge of field conservation practices and cover crop tour. Everyone has a responsibility to protect water quality and this tour will allow landowners, tenants, farmers, conservationists and others to see conservation practices that offer ways to reduce nitrates from reaching water sources and provide additional conservation benefits. This event will start at the ISU Northern Research Farm with registration at 8:30, followed by a brief introduction. We will then divide up and drive to 4 local sites (within 10 miles of the research farm) to look at edge of field practices and cover crops, all while hearing from landowners about reasons for using these practices and learning about cost-share dollars available for installation of practices.
Come prepared to drive, walk (minimal walking), talk, share and learn about these practices and how you can protect Iowa's water quality. Over lunch we will learn about Iowa's water quality from Dr. Matt Helmers.
