Native seed shortage impacts affects restoration across U.S

The National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine in the U.S. recently expressed concerns about the lack of native seed supply. The concern is related the cascading problems this shortage creates with restoration projects coast to coast.

Restoration is required for many events such as infestations, forest fires and drought.

Bayer and Corteva (a new firm created because of the Dow–DuPont merger), ChemChina and BASF control more than 60 per cent of global proprietary seed sales. The global seed industry is structured to proprietary seed production and sales, not native seed production.
