Representative Zach Nunn (IA-03) joined 51 members of Congress in sending a letter to President Donald Trump urging the Administration to prioritize market stability for American cattle producers and to consult closely with them before enacting decisions that move livestock markets. The letter comes after the Administration moved to allow up to 300,000 metric tons of imported beef into the United States over the next 90 days.
“Iowa cattle producers raise the best beef in the world. We share the goal of bringing down prices for American families, but after seven straight years of a shrinking American cattle herd, flooding the market with foreign beef is the wrong answer at the wrong time,” said Rep. Nunn. “I’m asking the President and the administration to work alongside us to find a path forward that delivers market stability and confidence for Iowa’s cattle producers.”
