Post-Harvest Equipment Maintenance: Tips to Avoid Downtime Next Season

Harvest places some of the highest annual loads on tractors, combines, grain carts, semis, and support equipment. Long operating hours, heavy loads, dust, crop residue, temperature swings, and limited maintenance windows can challenge engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, final drives, and cooling systems.

During post-harvest, putting your equipment away is not the end of the maintenance cycle. Post-harvest starts next season's reliability plan.

FS offers a broad lubricant portfolio including engine oils, tractor hydraulic fluids, hydraulic oils, gear oils, greases, and coolants, supported by FS Energy Specialists who can help match lubricant selection to the equipment and application,

  1. Clean & inspect

Remove dirt, crop residue, and grease buildup, so developing problems are easier to see.

  1. Sample before you drain

Don't throw away valuable equipment information with the oil.

Used Oil Analysis can provide insight into wear, contamination, and lubricant condition. FS recommends consistent sampling and trending because multiple samples establish a machine-specific history and can provide earlier warning of developing concerns. One oil sample provides a snapshot. Consistent sampling builds a trend.
