The Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences released its quarterly crop report on Sept. 1. The data agency revised 2026-27 area and production estimates, which were largely projected to decline compared to last year.
The country’s winter crop production, when pulses are grown, is forecast to drop 12 per cent to 60.9 million tonnes in 2026-27. However, it would still be 16 per cent above the 10-year average.
Despite excellent growing conditions in South Australia, Victoria and southern New South Wales, production estimates were dragged down by average conditions in Western Australia and poor conditions in Queensland and northern NSW. Rainfall during the growing season was greater than expected
