A leader in results-driven agricultural research in Canada, is pleased to announce the appointment of Lauren Huolt as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). With more than a decade of experience in financial management, audit compliance, risk assessment, and organizational leadership, Ms. Huolt brings a wealth of expertise that will support RDAR’s mission to drive innovation and sustainable growth in Alberta’s agriculture sector.
Ms. Huolt most recently served as CFO at Western Crop Innovations Ltd. (WCI), an RDAR-supported organization, where she led the development of robust financial systems, long-term planning strategies, and a culture of fiscal transparency. Her strategic insights and close collaboration with WCI’s board and leadership team were instrumental in advancing the company’s growth and impact.
Prior to her time at WCI, Ms. Huolt held senior leadership roles at Vision Credit Union Ltd., including Vice President of Finance and Vice Chair of the Asset Liability Committee. There, she played a key role in guiding the organization through periods of expansion and regulatory change.
Ms. Huolt began her career at Grant Thornton LLP, specializing in audit and assurance services for municipal and not-for-profit clients. She was recognized early on for her leadership potential and participated in the firm’s high-performance coaching program. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to mentoring emerging finance professionals.
A graduate of the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and an alumna of the CA School of Business, Ms. Huolt was recognized by the Emerging Leaders of Alberta program for her innovative contributions to the finance sector.
