he Communications and Marketing Coordinator with Sask Pork credits the Sask Pork team and the Saskatchewan Pork Industry Symposium advisory committee with a successful 2026 edition of the annual event.
Although the numbers have not yet been crunched, the 2026 edition of Saskatchewan Pork Industry Symposium held this week in Saskatoon drew a possible record number of participants from across North America.
Sask Pork Communications and Marketing Coordinator Steve Seto says it was a team effort.
Quote-Steve Seto-Sask Pork:
Our advisory committee was absolutely fantastic, which is a group of people, industry representation, whether it be packers, genetics companies, everybody that is involved in that committee.
They make symposium go.
We meet a few times a year and we say, what are the hottest topics, what are people concerned about, what do we need to address?
And they are able to help build our agenda and they do a fantastic job.
The advisory committee, everybody that was involved with it, they know who they are and they did a fantastic job of helping build symposium.
Hannah Burlet, our ag education coordinator at Sask Pork, she did a fantastic job of getting everything in place, getting our speakers, getting our agenda lined up, moving it around where we needed it to be.
She did a fantastic job.
Khadija Jimoh, our financial administrator, she was fantastic in just making sure that we had everything on the back end all squared away.
Mark Ferguson, our general manager, he was able to keep us all in line as well, even though there were probably days where we were probably trying to rip our hair out in the planning process.
And then Alison Sullivan, our producer services manager at the office, she was a great support in making sure that, when Hannah and I were discussing some things, she would kind of pipe in and, give some clarification or introduce another idea.
And so, she was a great tool and support to have as well.
So, the entire Sask Pork team, as well as the advisory committee, were absolutely vital in order to have the event that we had here over the last two days.
