Sask Pork Opens Nominations for 2026 Awards of Distinction

Sask Pork is calling on the Saskatchewan pork sector to recognize the people helping move the industry forward, with nominations now open for its 2026 Awards of Distinction.

The annual awards will be presented during the Saskatchewan Pork Industry Symposium, scheduled for November 3–4 in Saskatoon. Nominations will be accepted until October 15.

The Awards of Distinction recognize individuals whose contributions extend across different areas of the pork sector — from production excellence and environmental stewardship to community involvement and long-term industry leadership.

Steve Seto, Communications and Marketing Coordinator with Sask Pork, said the awards provide an opportunity to recognize people whose work often happens quietly throughout the industry.

“Our Awards of Distinction are very important,” Seto said. “It gives us an opportunity to highlight the people who are doing brilliant work within our industry.”

Recognition includes contributions related to production excellence as well as environmental stewardship, including the work producers and industry members undertake to protect water and air quality while maintaining high standards of animal care.

The awards also recognize community involvement and individuals who help strengthen public understanding of Saskatchewan’s pork sector.

Seto noted that some recipients have dedicated years — and in some cases decades — to building and strengthening the industry.

“This is something that we don’t want to shy away from,” he said, emphasizing the importance of acknowledging the people and work behind Saskatchewan pork production.

The awards will be one of the highlights of the two-day Saskatchewan Pork Industry Symposium, which brings producers and industry representatives together in Saskatoon.

Anyone interested in submitting a nomination can access nomination information through Sask Pork.
