SaskOilseeds extends heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Lyle Simonson, a longtime flax producer from southwest Saskatchewan, former SaskFlax board chair, and dedicated voice for Saskatchewan farmers. Lyle served on the SaskFlax board from 2004 to 2013, including as chair from 2011 to 2013, helping guide the organization through a challenging time for the flax industry.
Those who worked alongside Lyle remember his passion for flax and his unwavering commitment to producers. Former Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada research and design engineer Mark Stumborg said, “There was no stronger supporter and advocate for flax and ag producers in general than Lyle.”
Lyle’s leadership, practical perspective and dedication to his fellow farmers made a lasting contribution to Saskatchewan agriculture. We are grateful for his many years of service and extend our deepest sympathies to the Simonson family. His legacy will be remembered across the flax industry and the farming community he served so well.
