NPPC President Rob Brenneman reiterated that independent producers cannot navigate a fragmented patchwork of 50 different state housing mandates without incurring unsustainable compliance costs. Pork organizations had actively lobbied lawmakers to incorporate preemption language—similar to the House-passed Save Our Bacon Act—to preserve open interstate commerce for fresh pork.
