Updated Fungicide Efficacy for Control of Corn Diseases Available
By Paul D. Esker and Alyssa Collins

When making decisions during the 2021 corn growing season regarding the need and use of foliar fungicides, it is important to consult the updated fungicide efficacy for control of corn diseases chart. This document is updated annually by members of the Corn Disease Working Group and ratings are based on results from trials conducted across the United States. Important updates for 2021 include increased ratings for numerous compounds for control of tar spot. This can be helpful as we documented for the first time in 2020 the presence of this disease in Pennsylvania and will be monitoring closely if tar spot increases its range in the state. Several compounds listed in the updated chart may not be available in Pennsylvania due to product not yet being labeled for use in the state. As we move into the growing season, stay tuned for updates about disease updates and recommendations based on corn growth stages.
