Tree-of-heaven (Ailanthus altissima) is an invasive tree that was planted widely in ornamental settings. It has been found across much of the continental United States, but it is especially invasive in the eastern half of the country. It is a fast-growing tree that reaches heights of 70 feet or more, with compound leaves that grow up to 4 feet long. It is native to northeastern and central China and is the preferred host of the invasive insect, spotted lanternfly.
