Farmer panelist Greg Stamp, Stamp Seeds; Lance Neilson, Neilson Beef; and Will Van Roessel, Specialty Seeds Ltd shared their precision ag journey at the 2022 Farms.com Precision Agriculture Conference.

They shared that they started off small sometimes but pursued things that were of personal interest to them, rather than just analyzing return on investment. During busy or growth periods for their business they often did not add any new precision agriculture into the mix because it takes time to introduce something new.

When the farmer panelists were asked what their biggest precision ag wish list was Will Van Roessel said he was looking for a system to tie all the record keeping and management required for different systems together. Greg Stamp also agreed and explained that in his business they report to 25 different entities.

And while Lance Neilson agreed that record-keeping was high on his wish list as well, he wished for traceability where you could follow an animal through its own life. He said he believes the industry is on the verge of delivering on that wish.
