Six trailblazers join the Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame for their lifelong impact on farming, food, and policy.

The Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame has revealed the names of the distinguished agricultural ambassadors set to be inducted in 2025. These individuals have made exceptional contributions to various segments of Canada’s agriculture sector. The induction ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, in Victoria, British Columbia.

“Every year we welcome inductees who have made impactful contributions across so many segments of Canada’s agriculture industry,” said Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame Chair Phil Boyd. “As our industry continues to innovate and advance, it’s important to reflect and recognize the lifetime contributions these individuals have made to strengthening the world-class agri-food industry we enjoy in Canada. Our 2025 inductees reflect groundbreaking work in primary production, value-added and food retail, policy making, commodity organizations, cooperatives, research and extension.”

This year’s inductees include John Anderson, Dori Gingera-Beauchemin, Gaétan Desroches, Joe Hudson, Dennis Laycraft, and Dr. Peter Sikkema. These honorees have demonstrated leadership in areas like primary production, value-added food, policy-making, and agricultural research.

John Anderson, an entrepreneur and business leader, has spent 50 years transforming Oppy, a global fresh produce company that supports Canadian agriculture. Under his leadership, the company advanced sustainable practices and became internationally recognized for its commitment to community welfare.

Dori Gingera-Beauchemin’s career in public service, especially as Manitoba’s deputy agriculture minister, focused on sustainable agri-food policies and building public trust. Her efforts in research, advocacy, and mentoring have left a lasting impact on the industry.

Gaétan Desroches has been the visionary leader of Sollio Cooperative Group, Canada’s largest agricultural cooperative. His leadership in modernizing cooperatives and driving sustainable agricultural practices has shaped the future of agriculture in Quebec and beyond.

Joe Hudson’s leadership at Burnbrae Farms revolutionized Canada’s egg industry through vertical integration, turning it into a successful, family-owned business that has contributed significantly to the agri-food sector.

Dennis Laycraft has been an advocate for Canada’s beef industry for over 40 years, with a focus on expanding trade and improving competitiveness. His work with the Canadian Cattle Association has been pivotal in the success of the industry.

Dr. Peter Sikkema’s research at the University of Guelph focused on innovative weed management strategies for farmers. His contributions to herbicide-resistant weed management have benefited producers across Canada.

These inductees embody the innovation and leadership that continue to shape the agricultural landscape in Canada.
