
The Pakistani government announced a Rs1.13-trillion (US$6.2-billion) stimulus package to help the country overcome the effects of the coronavirus.
Of that money, about Rs280 billion (US$1.74 billion) will be used to help provinces in the county take loans from banks to purchase wheat from farmers.
The government has set aside another Rs100 million (US$623,000) and interest payment deferrals for the ag sector as well as small and medium businesses.
As of the morning of March 26, 2020, Pakistan had 1,123 cases of coronavirus with eight deaths.
