8 Times Farmers Demonstrated to Support Ag

Mexican Farmers - GMO Corn

Mexican Farmers - GMO Corn

In 2013, Mexican growers held multiple demonstrations regarding the federal government’s handling of GMO corn.

Mexican farmers grow enough white corn but rely on imports of yellow corn for livestock feed.

In February, farmers voiced opposition against the government allowing GMO corn to be grown in the country.

The issue has been ongoing ever since.

A Mexican judge placed an immediate ban on GMO corn in October of that year.

But a 2016 court ruling allows ag seed companies to conduct GMO corn trials in approved regions of the country.
