Farms.com Ag Buyer’s Guide Inspires the Next Generation of Agriculture

At Farms.com, nurturing a passion for agriculture starts early, and nothing illustrates that better than a recent heartwarming video featuring young Jared Altmann and the Farms.com Ag Buyer’s Guide.

In the video, Jared can be seen carefully combing through the pages of the Ag Buyer’s Guide, searching with focus and determination for a combine he believes his father needs. While his father, Justin Altmann, may not have known that a combine was on his wish list, Jared certainly believed it belonged on the farm.

His father asks him to find a big tractor, which he does with enthusiasm.  With a sense of confidence that only a young future farmer can have, Jared easily finds the right machines in Ag Buyer’s Guide, circling them with his blue marker.

The Altman family lives and works at Meadow Valley Farm Producers, a picturesque 50-acre sanctuary nestled in a scenic valley just north of Lake Scugog. Established in 2022, the farm was built from a shared dream embraced by Justin and Jenny Altmann, their three children, Jenna Mae, Jaina, and Jared, along with their longtime friend, Tanis.

What began as an idea has grown into a vibrant and welcoming homestead rooted in family, hard work, and community.

Meadow Valley Farm Producers is more than a working farm. It is a thriving destination where crops and livestock coexist with a bustling farm market that has become the heart of the property. Visitors can find an impressive selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, farm-raised meats, eggs, and cheeses, all produced directly on the farm with care and attention to quality. The market also features thoughtfully curated products from local artisan partners, offering handcrafted goods that celebrate the region and its producers.

Moments like Jared exploring the Ag Buyer’s Guide highlight the role agricultural resources play in shaping future generations. For young people growing up on farms, resources like the Farms.com Ag Buyer’s Guide are more than simple listings. They are learning resources, inspiration, and a bridge between curiosity and capability.

“At Farms.com, we like to think we support farmers at every stage, whether they are seasoned producers or young minds like Jared just beginning to explore the world of agriculture,” says Farms.com President and CEO Graham Dyer.

In addition to Ag Buyer’s Guide and, of course, the Farms.com itself, we publish Better Farming Magazine, Small Farm Canada and Spud Smart, because we are passionate about agriculture and ensuring it remains strong for generations to come.

Soon, visitors to Meadow Valley Farm Producers will also be able to find copies of the Farms.com Ag Buyer’s Guide right in the farm market. It is another way the Altmann family continues to share their passion for farming while connecting their local community with trusted agricultural resources.

Enjoy the long weekend!

Before trade and tariffs dominated the conversation, taxation was one of the biggest issues on farmers’ minds last year. From the carbon tax to capital gains, OFA worked with the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and provincial partners to push for fair, practical solutions. We saw progress on carbon tax relief and capital gains, and we continue to advocate for modernized farm tax programs at both the provincial and federal levels.

OFA works to represent the interests of Ontario farmers to all levels of government. Renew your Farm Business Registration (FBR) by March 1/26 and choose OFA so we can continue to support Ontario farmers and their businesses.
