The Roughriders bested the Alouettes in the 112th Grey Cup

Members of Canada’s ag community are congratulating the Saskatchewan Roughriders on bringing the Grey Cup back to the Prairies.

“Congratulations to the (Roughriders) on a big and well deserved win!” the Wheat Growers Association said on X. “Props to the @MTLAlouettes for a hard fought game!”

The Roughriders defeated the Alouettes 25-17 on Nov. 16 in the Canadian Football League’s championship game to capture the franchise’s fifth Grey Cup championship and the first since 2013.

On Agriville.com, farmers chimed in with their thoughts on the game in a thread titled “Wheat Province wins the Grey Cup.”

“It’s nice to see my home province win the Grey Cup. It’s been a while,” a user known as farmaholic said. “A well coached good team. They had a decent season’s record but I never thought it would ever be a gimme.”

One of the team’s main sponsors – which also has ties to ag – congratulated the Riders.

The Roughriders play at Mosaic Stadium, named after The Mosaic Company.

“Mosaic is proud to stand with you – on and off the field – celebrating this historic win and our shared commitment to #Saskatchewan,” the company said on X on Nov. 17.

Now that the game is over, it’s time for the Roughriders to celebrate with their fans.

Here are the details of the team’s championship parade:

2pm – Parade begins its route. Fans should begin lining the Green Mile (Albert Street) at 13th Avenue.

3pm – Celebration program begins on the steps of the Legislature (200 Wascana Dr.)
