New modular concave system boosts performance and speeds crop changeovers
Bushel Plus Ltd, a global leader in harvest optimization technology, has launched its new X9 Split Frame MAD Concaves designed specifically for John Deere X9 Series combines. The new system is developed to improve harvesting efficiency, grain quality, and operator safety while making crop changeovers faster and simpler.
The X9 Split Frame MAD Concaves use a modular design that replaces traditional concaves, which usually require full removal during crop changes. Instead of removing heavy parts, farmers can keep a strong split frame installed in the combine and change only lightweight inserts. These inserts are designed for specific crops such as wheat, barley, corn, or soybeans and slide easily into place.
“Think of it as a base frame that stays in the machine, while smaller concave inserts tailored for wheat, barley, corn, or soybeans can be swapped quickly and easily,” said Marcel Kringe, Founder and CEO of Bushel Plus. “Each insert fits precisely into the fixed split frame, maintaining correct spacing and alignment for optimal threshing and separation.”
This design significantly reduces the time needed to switch between crops. What once took several hours can now be completed in about 15 minutes. Farmers no longer need to re-level concaves, which saves time, reduces physical strain, and lowers the risk of injury during busy harvest seasons.
“Field testing across North America shows the X9 Split Frame MAD Concaves consistently deliver lower losses and cleaner samples, no matter the crop or conditions,” said Kringe. “Farmers can harvest faster, maintain grain quality, and reduce fuel costs - improving both efficiency and profitability.”
The new concaves are engineered to deliver cleaner grain samples and reduce grain damage. By improving threshing precision, they help minimize cracked kernels and reduce unwanted material in the grain. This leads to better storage quality, higher market value, and improved combine performance, even at higher harvesting speeds.
Field testing across North America has shown that the system consistently delivers lower grain losses and cleaner samples across different crops and harvest conditions. Farmers can harvest more efficiently while also reducing fuel use, which supports better overall profitability.
The X9 Split Frame MAD Concaves are made from durable AR 200 abrasion resistant steel to ensure long service life and reliable performance. They are also designed to work alongside the Classic X9 MAD Concave models. Farmers can mix both systems, placing modular concaves where frequent crop changes are needed, while keeping existing equipment in other positions.
This flexible approach protects previous investments and allows a smooth transition to the new technology. The system is especially useful for farmers who focus on high grain quality, such as seed producers, where gentle and consistent threshing is essential.
The X9 Split Frame MAD Concaves are now available through the Bushel Plus global dealer network, supporting farmers worldwide with modern and efficient harvest solutions.
