Workers at the Horicon, Wis., facility manufacture Gators and other equipment
Employees at a John Deere production facility recently ratified a new agreement.
More than 1,000 workers represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) at the John Deere plant in Horicon, Wis., voted in favor of the offer presented to them.
“Under the agreement, employees will receive meaningful wage increases while also sharing more responsibility for their health care costs,” John Deere said in a Sept. 30 statement. “In return, the new health plan provides options and flexibility designed to meet employees' diverse needs and life stage.”
The Horicon Works facility is the only location manufacturing Gator vehicles. Workers there also make the X300, 500, 700, and 900 series lawn tractors, as well as various attachments.
The previous agreement, negotiated in 2022, was set to expire on Oct. 1.
This new agreement means no unionized Deere workers in the U.S. are facing any imminent work stoppage.
The United Auto Workers did reject a contract extension offer in August.
This means the affected workers will operate under their existing agreement until the fall of 2027.
