New EPA approved products to protect key US crops

Nufarm Americas Inc. has announced that its Naxypro® and Naxypro® Plus insecticides have received registration approval from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The formulations feature Nufarm’s registered chlorantraniliprole, a trusted active ingredient known for its long-lasting effectiveness against yield-threatening lepidopteran pests.

Naxypro, with an active ingredient concentration of 1.69 pounds per gallon, acts quickly to protect crops for up to three weeks from chewing and sucking pests. It targets damaging species such as codling moth, navel orangeworm, and peach twig borer, making it an effective integrated pest management (IPM) solution for fruit and nut growers.

Naxypro Plus combines chlorantraniliprole (0.89 lb/gal) with bifenthrin (1.33 lb/gal) to deliver powerful protection for broad-acre crops like soybeans, corn, cereals, and cotton. It controls a range of pests, including armyworms, earworms, soybean loopers, aphids, mites, and whiteflies, supporting healthier plants and higher yields.

A third product, Naxypro Duo, is awaiting EPA approval. This innovative two-way formulation blends chlorantraniliprole and bifenthrin to provide broad-spectrum control for high-value tree nuts, fruits, and vegetables, while maintaining a reduced impact on beneficial insects.

“The Naxypro insecticide portfolio opens the door to channel partners seeking a technical alternative,” said Jeff Wagner, VP of Sales, Crop Protection at Nufarm. “It’s a win for growers across crop markets who need access to dependable chlorantraniliprole solutions with economic upside now, as well as formulation strides that add advantage in years to come.”

Nufarm’s Naxypro products will support key U.S. farm acres beginning with the 2026 crop year, with sales starting in January.

Video: Why Invest in Canada’s Seed Future? | On The Brink: Episode 3

Darcy Unger just invested millions to build a brand-new seed plant on his farm in Stonewall, Manitoba so when it’s time for his sons to take over, they have the tools they need to succeed.

Right now, 95% of the genetics they’ll be growing come from Canadian plant breeders.

That number matters.

When fusarium hit Western Canada in the late 90s, it was Canadian breeders who responded, because they understood Canadian conditions. That ability to react quickly to what’s happening on Canadian farms is exactly what’s at risk when breeding programs lose funding.

For farmers like Darcy, who have made generational investments based on the assumption that better genetics will keep coming, the stakes are direct and personal.

We’re on the brink of decisions that will shape our agricultural future for not only our generation, but also the ones to come.

What direction will we choose?

On The Brink is a year-long video series traveling across Canada to meet the researchers, breeders, farmers, seed companies, and policymakers shaping the future of Canadian plant breeding. Each week, a new story. Each story, a piece of the bigger picture.

Episode 3 is above. Follow Seed World Canada to catch every episode, and tell us: Do you think the next generation will have the tools they need to success when they takeover? How is the future going to look?
