Statistics Canada projects Canadian corn-for-grain production to grow slightly in 2025, despite drier-than-normal weather and high temperatures that have pressured yields.
National production is forecast to rise 1.4% year over year to 15.6 million tonnes.
Ontario, Canada’s largest corn-for-grain-producing province, is expected to see a 2.9% increase in output to 9.9 million tonnes.
The growth is driven by higher harvested acres, up 3.4% to 2.2 million, which will balance a slight yield decline of 0.5% to 179.1 bushels per acre.
