Pickup trucks from multiple manufacturers were under recall alerts to start the month.
Ford, for example, recalled about 1.4 million F-150s across Canada and the U.S. because of transmission issues.
“An intermittent failure of the output shaft speed (OSS) sensor in the transmission may result in an unintended downshift to first gear,” Ford’s website says. “This can cause the rear tires to slide until the vehicle speed slows down and could result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.”
F-150 owners are encouraged to visit the Ford or NHTSA websites to determine if their truck is part of the recall.
