Corn plants across the United States are beginning to emerge.
About 2 percent of the national corn crop is up, the USDA’s April 22 Weekly Weather and Crop Bulletin says.
With farmers intending to plant around 95.3 million acres of corn in 2025, this means about 1.9 million acres of corn have emerged.
For context, Kentucky farmers planted 1.6 million acres of corn last year.
Corn in Texas is the furthest along.
About 63 percent of the state’s 2.45 million intended corn acres, or 1.54 million acres of corn, have emerged, the USDA’s report shows.
