U.S. senators from each side of the aisle worked together to introduce a bill to protect the American ag industry from cyber threats.
Sens. Catherine Cortez Mastro (D-Nev.) and Ted Budd (R-N.C.), tabled the Cybersecurity in Agriculture Act which allocates $25 million each year between 2026 and 2030 to create an infrastructure to keep American ag safe.
Specifically, the bill includes steps to achieve this protection.
One, for example, calls for the Secretary of Agriculture to work with the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, and the Secretary of Homeland Security, to create five regional agriculture cybersecurity centers.
