New AI capabilities in John Deere Operations Center enable farmers to turn collected data into practical recommendations and informed management decisions.

John Deere has introduced JD, an artificial intelligence (AI) assistant integrated into its Operations Center platform, to help farmers access agricultural data, identify useful insights, and make informed decisions.

The company also announced its Farmer Data Commitment, reaffirming its position that customers should retain control over their farm data and decide which third parties can access it.

Jackson Baca, Group Product Marketing Manager for digital technology at John Deere, announced the new AI assistant when speaking with Farms.com.

JD is designed to help farmers retrieve information from years of records stored in Operations Center without manually searching through extensive data.

The assistant aims to provide answers to farmers’ questions, highlight relevant insights, and help them take action using information they have already collected. According to Baca, the tool could be particularly useful when farmers are working in the field or traveling and need quick access to specific information.

John Deere is launching an early access program for U.S. customers to introduce the new technology and gather experience with its capabilities. Farmers interested in learning more about JD and the company's data policies can visit deere.com/yourdata.

Franklin Peitz of John Deere explained that the Farmer Data Commitment was introduced alongside the company's expanding use of AI technologies. The commitment is intended to clarify how customer information is handled and reinforce farmers’ authority over their data.

Under the commitment, customers can manage permissions and determine which third parties are allowed to access their information through Operations Center. They can also change those permissions at any time, providing greater flexibility in managing data access.

Peitz emphasized that John Deere uses farmer data to improve its products but does not sell that data. The company said transparency about data practices and customer control are important as more farmers adopt digital agricultural tools.

The introduction of JD reflects John Deere's continued investment in AI-driven farming technology. By combining existing farm records with an AI assistant, the company aims to make agricultural information easier to access and more useful for everyday decisions.

Together, the AI assistant and Farmer Data Commitment highlight John Deere's focus on helping farmers use digital tools to improve productivity and profitability while maintaining control over their agricultural data.
