Honorees Recognized for Decades of Pork Leadership
The National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) has named Ken and Julie Maschhoff and longtime industry leader Sam Carney as the 2026 Hall of Fame inductees.
Announced during the National Pork Industry Forum, this award honors individuals whose work has significantly strengthened pork production and enriched the agricultural community.
For over thirty years, Ken and Julie Maschhoff have led one of the country’s most influential pork operations. Their business expanded across several states and provided stable employment for many rural families. Their leadership helped transform their operation into an innovative, vertically integrated pork production company.
NPPC CEO Bryan Humphreys praised their contributions, stating, “Beyond their business, Ken and Julie have been tireless advocates for the pork industry with outstanding leadership and service to fellow pork producers. Their impact is lasting, their story remarkable, and their legacy as builders, partners, and pioneers secure.”
Ken shaped strategic growth through partnerships and advanced technologies, while Julie strengthened the company’s early financial management and later supported human resources and communications. Together, they built a legacy rooted in teamwork and a commitment to progress.
The NPPC also recognized Sam Carney, a respected pork producer from Adair, Iowa. Known for his authentic, hands‑on leadership, he guided Carney Farms Inc. while advocating for producers nationwide. As NPPC president from 2010 to 2011, he represented farmers on key issues.
Duane Stateler, NPPC president, shared, “When it comes to speaking up for producers, Sam led by example. His pragmatic approach to leadership helped advance key NPPC initiatives. Whether engaging with members of Congress, speaking with international trade partners, or visiting with producers on their operations, Sam stayed grounded in his purpose.”
Carney contributed to important programs such as the Strategic Investment Program and We Care, demonstrating his dedication to agricultural progress and future generations.
Each year, NPPC honors leaders who strengthen the social, environmental and economic sustainability of U.S. pork production. The achievements of Ken and Julie Maschhoff and Sam Carney reflect the passion and leadership that continue to shape the industry.
