New plant nutrition solution supports crop growth and stress management
Nutrien Ag Solutions has introduced TERRAMAR®, a new plant nutrition bio-solution, across Western Canada. The product is being used in its first commercial season, with applications taking place across Prairie farming regions to evaluate its performance under local growing conditions.
Grower interest in the product has been strong, with approximately 250,000 acres already booked for application. The launch is expected to generate valuable agronomic data from a wide range of Prairie environments throughout the growing season.
TERRAMAR® was developed by Loveland Products and is designed to improve nutrient uptake, and help crops better manage environmental stress. The product combines biologically extracted kelp with leonardite, a natural carbon source, to support plant health and contribute to stronger yield potential.
“When Nutrien approached us about conducting a Terramar trial, we were eager to see how it would perform in our canola crop. The results were apparent within days of application. Throughout the season, our canola looked healthier, held its flowers longer, and produced significantly more pods than the check strip. By harvest, the results spoke for themselves,” said Lawrence Vogel, Leslie Wolowidnyk-Vogel, and Elisabeth Vogel of Turin, Alberta.
She continued, “After seeing the results firsthand, our only wish was that we had applied it across the entire field. It's rare to find a product that delivers both visible in-field performance and measurable returns, and Terramar did exactly that for us.”
Field applications are taking place from late June through July. Timing varies by region to match crop development stages and local weather conditions. The goal is to assess product performance while gathering information that can help farmers make future management decisions.

Farmers who participated in previous trials reported positive results, including healthier crops and improved plant development. These early experiences have increased interest in technology among growers looking for practical tools that support crop performance under changing growing conditions.
TERRAMAR® is approved for use on several Prairie crops, including canola, cereals, corn, pulse crops, and soybeans. It can be used alongside many liquid fertilizers and crop protection products, making it easy to fit into existing farm operations without requiring extra field applications.
The launch follows successful research and field testing conducted in the United States and Western Canada. More than 30 regional trials helped validate the product's performance before its commercial release.
