New air seeder system boosts accuracy monitoring and input efficiency
Precision Planting has launched DrySet Air, a new electric-drive metering system designed to improve performance and efficiency for air seeder operators.
The product was introduced during Ag in Motion, an agricultural event held in Saskatchewan. DrySet Air works with Precision Planting's in-cab monitoring technology to provide growers with detailed information about product flow, distribution, and downforce across the seeder.
"Growers are always looking for ways to increase efficiency and reduce costs -- benefits air seeders deliver in spades," said Bryce Baker, North America Tactical Marketing, Precision Planting. "But even reduced fuel and labor costs can't make up for the lost time and yields when growers are dealt the downsides of air seeders: blockages, depth inconsistencies or uneven seed distribution. DrySet Air aims to tackle those problems."
The system is designed to help address common air seeder challenges such as blockages, uneven seed distribution, and inconsistent planting depth. By improving monitoring and control, growers can make informed decisions during planting operations.
One of the key features of DrySet Air is its ability to manage separate variable-rate prescriptions for different tanks on an air cart. This allows growers to adjust seed and fertilizer applications based on changing field conditions, helping improve input efficiency while supporting soil health.
The technology also includes tower-by-tower swath control and turn compensation, providing more accurate application across the field. In addition, the metering units are installed in a stainless-steel frame to reduce corrosion and improve durability.
DrySet Air is compatible with selected John Deere air cart models, making it easier for producers to integrate the technology into existing equipment.
Alongside the new launch, Precision Planting and PTx Trimble showcased several other technologies at Ag in Motion. These included targeted spraying systems, planter monitoring components, blockage monitoring solutions, autonomous tractor technology, and advanced guidance systems.
Company representatives said the event provides an opportunity to connect with growers, better understand their challenges, and demonstrate technologies designed to improve farm productivity.
The introduction of DrySet Air expands Precision Planting's portfolio of precision agriculture products aimed at helping farmers improve planting accuracy, reduce waste, and maximize productivity across their operations.
