Innovative fertilizer control system recognized for accuracy and efficiency
Unverferth Manufacturing Company has received national recognition for innovation in agricultural equipment. The company’s Air Command Section Control System has earned an AE50 Award from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers. The award highlights the most innovative products introduced each year in agriculture and related industries.
The Air Command system is designed for Unverferth Pro Force dry fertilizer spreaders and focuses on improving application accuracy in the field. It allows operators to automatically control four independent spreader sections, helping ensure fertilizer is applied only where needed. This is especially useful in irregular shaped fields and around waterways, ditches, and field edges.
The AE50 Awards are selected by a panel of engineering experts who evaluate products based on technical achievement and real-world value. Air Command was recognized for helping farmers improve efficiency while reducing fertilizer waste and unnecessary overlap.
The system uses pneumatic redirection technology to manage material flow. This design allows for true independent section shutoff without adding extra conveyor belts or complex mechanical parts. By limiting overapplication, Air Command helps producers save on fertilizer costs while maintaining strong crop performance.
