Local officials are asking people to avoid certain interchanges
Ahead of the Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa from Sept. 1 – 3, there are multiple important pieces of information for attendees and others in the area.
The show, being held at the Central Iowa Expo site (1827 217th Road), is the largest outdoor farm show in the U.S., and brings with it a huge crowd.
Boone County officials expect more than 100,00 visitors to take in the show over three days, and are asking people to consider alternate routes while traveling between 3:00 and 7:00 pm.
“Because of the heavy east-west traffic, citizens who normally use Snedden Dr. and Quill Ave or SE Marshall and Crown Flair interchanges at Hwy 30, are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to use an alternate route during these three days,” an online notice says.
With almost 600 exhibitors at the show, there’s something for all members of the ag community.
New for 2026 is the Agronomy Zone.
This six-acre exhibit features research-grade crop plots planted this spring to help farmers see how products perform in actual field conditions.
Brian and Darren Hefty will lead guided tours of the plots each day at 1pm.
The 2026 show will also mark the debut of the FAA-approved Drone Zone in Boone after it took off in Decatur, Ill., last year.
This provides farmers a chance to see drones fly over fields spraying water.
TV screens will display real-time views from the drone, and vendors are on hand to answer questions farmers may have.
And the Autonomy Zone will give farmers a look at the latest autonomous innovations ready for field deployment.
Farmers who didn’t get tickets ahead of the Aug. 28 early pricing deadline can still get tickets.
Tickets are available for $30 online or at the gate. And kids under 12 are free.
