Wisconsin family farm selected to provide the iconic Blue Room Christmas tree
A Wisconsin tree farm has been chosen to provide the 2026 Official White House Christmas Tree, marking another major achievement for a family with a long history in the Christmas tree industry.
During a special ceremony held on Sept. 21, White House Superintendent of Grounds Dale Haney selected a concolor fir from Silent Night Evergreens in Endeavor, Wisconsin. The tree measured approximately 30 feet tall and will be harvested later this fall before being trimmed to about 18.5 feet for display in the White House Blue Room during the Christmas season.
The honor follows a successful year for farm owners David and Leah Chapman, who earned national recognition after winning the National Christmas Tree Association's National Grand Champion competition. Although the championship-winning tree was a balsam fir, a concolor fir was selected for the White House display.
“I’ve been to the White House a few times, but it’s still an amazing experience. And this year, especially, we’re taking my young daughters,” said Chapman.
The selection continues to be a long tradition for the Chapman family. Silent Night Evergreens previously supplied White House Christmas trees in 1998, 2003, and 2017. The latest selection also represents the fifth national title connected to the Chapman family, whose involvement in the Christmas tree industry spans generations.
The event brought together family members, local residents, Christmas tree growers, students, and visitors from across the region. One of the highlights of the ceremony was the participation of David and Leah Chapman's daughters, Madilyn and Reagan, who introduced their parents during the program.
Following the ceremony, the family joined students visiting the farm through a Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom field trip. The event helped showcase the role Christmas tree farming plays in agriculture while connecting young people with farm traditions and rural businesses.
The selected tree will begin at the next stage of its journey in mid-November. Members of the Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association are expected to harvest and load the tree before it is transported to Washington, D.C. by FedEx Freight.
“The blue room tree, you know, it sits in the middle of a room, so there’s no back. Everything’s the front. So the tree’s really gotta be perfect, almost perfect,” said Haney.
The selection highlights the dedication and expertise of Christmas tree growers and demonstrates the important role family farms continue to play in producing holiday traditions enjoyed across the country. For the Chapman family and the broader Christmas tree industry, honor reflects years of hard work, commitment to quality, and pride in agriculture.
As preparations continue, the tree's upcoming harvest and transportation will mark the next chapter in its journey from a Wisconsin farm to one of the nation's most celebrated holiday destinations.
